About A & B Glass
Barry L. Hughes – owner of A & B Glass
Barry graduated from Trade School in 1976 Graphic Arts as a Printer Apprentice in Boston, Massachusetts. He ran a print shop for four years during and after graduating school. He was offered to purchase the business and wasn’t ready to buy a print shop at 19 years old. Barry decided to try a different trade and went into the glass industry in 1980. He attained valuable experience when he worked for Settles Glass right outside of Boston, Massachusetts from 1982-1984. This was a full service glass shop covering all facets of the glass industry similar to A & B Glass. Barry moved across country to Santa Barbara and immediately went to work for A & B Glass in 1984. Basically the owner & Barry operated A & B Glass. Barry was offered to buy the business in 1988 and this time he accepted the opportunity to be a small business owner! Barry purchased A & B Glass in February of 1988 and has expanded its services to include Glass services for your automobile, boat, house or business! Barry’s MISSION for all work performed is First in Quality & Service! This mission is included for all jobs, every customer every day. Barry has always been a quality conscious person and was able to incorporate this into his business. This is what makes Barry different from everyone else! He'd rather turn down a job if it can’t be done right than to do a job half right. Barry is very well known in town for working on fine automobiles, classic cars, the restoration man, a difficult job that no one can do, he can do! Barry is I-Car certified, Lynx and Essex Certified. He offers original parts when ever available and really takes his time educating his customers. He explains every time the right way to install glass or materials to have the Absolute Best Job Done!
Pat Niday – Senior Auto Glass Technician
Pat graduated from San Marcos High School in 1975 in Santa Barbara, California. In 1974 he went to work for a glass company and later owned his own Auto Glass business for three Years. In 1988 Pat joined A & B Glass and became our key employee. Pat is I-Car certified, Lynx and Essex Certified. He follows factory specifications on all auto glass replacement and is very well known in Santa Barbara for his impeccable work as a Senior Auto Glass Technician! Pat is qualified for all domestic and foreign makes of dealership and nondealership vehicles and has a long-term background of total restoration glasswork on vintage vehicles. Tonie Hughes – Office Manager
Tonie graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 1994 in San Luis Obispo. In 1991 she went to work for A & B Glass as a bookkeeper and later worked in both public and private accounting fields locally in Santa Barbara. Tonie became very involved in office management at A & B Glass in 1996. She is able to assist you with quotes, setting up appointments, billing insurance and making sure that you are receiving first quality glass and materials. She will make sure that you know what all your options are and make recommendations when ever necessary so that the job is done right the FIRST time!
Monique Nadeau - Office Manager
Monique grew up in Orange County and moved to Santa Barbara to attend college. She graduated from UCSB with degrees in Communications and Health Sciences and came to work for A & B Glass th summer of 2007. Upon walking into our showroom, Monique will greet you with a smile and help you with all of your glass needs. She can assist you with auto and residential quotes and will do so with utmost customer service. If she can't help you, she will get you to the person who can! Her hobbies include dancing, traveling, and anythig to do with the beach!
Bill Hurd - Auto Glass Techinican
Bill graduated in 1979 from Sandpoint High School in Idaho. After graduation he held jobs as a lumberjack, welder, baker, restaurant cook, and fiber optic cable installer. Starting in 1990 he found his career as an auto glass technician wit A & B Glass. Over the past twenty-one years, Bill has worked the majority of his time at A & B Glass. He is Essex and Lync certified and is qualified to work on all doestic and foreign vehicls, whether new or vintage, as well as boats. His hobbies include dirt bike riding, Action Pistol, and Western 3 Gun Shooting.
Steve Bostock:
Steve started working at A & B Glass in February 1986. In 1990, Steve left Santa Barbara and went to Southwest Oregon Community College and passed Basic Fire Academy and EMT Intermediate training with expectations of becoming a Paramedic. As it turned out, Steve did not like seeing sick/injured people and came back to Santa Barbara and opened his own small glass business which lasted a few years. Steve has been back at A & B Glass ever since. With 24+ years of glass experience under his belt, Steve has become a valuable asset to A & B Glass and is recognized as one of Santa Barbara's top installers with sound knowledge in most auto, marine, residential and commercial glass applications. As our outside Estimater, Steve will come to you to see your glass project, discuss options and put together an accurate estimate for you at no charge. Aeric Blue Dikeman:
Aeric graduated high school in 1988. Not long after that he got his first taste of the glass industry as an entry level screen & shade apprentice. After 5 years of shop work he learned more about the business mainly residential at another company. His skills were: Window Replacement, Mirrors & Shower Enclosures, and Storefront Fabrication. After 15 years of honing his craft, he joined A & B Glass. Since he's been with us he's been able to learn and grow. Now his skills are much broader and even more honed. His specialty is now mainly Heavy Glass Shower Enclosures.
Doug Demille:
Doug graduated 1983 from High school in Canada, moved to California in 1987. He has been employed in the auto, commercial and residential glass business since 1988. Doug has multifaceted experience, hard-working farm boy. He was employed by A & B Glass from 1996-2001 moved away for 10 years. He recently moved back to join the #1 glass shop in S.B. as there quality and workmanship is JOB #1.
A & B Glass History
A & B Glass was founded in 1981 and has been locally owned and operated for twenty years. A & B Glass stands for auto and boat glass which were the original services offered. When Barry purchased A & B Glass in 1988, he expanded services to include glass replacement for the home and business. A one-man operation grew to a company with six employees! We now have office help to assist you with setting up an appointment and technicians that are trained, certified and experienced to install your glass!
